Workshop | Transhumanism |15th April 2016| Iasi, Romania

World LUMEN Congress 2016. Logos Universality Mentality Education Novelty | 12th – 17th April 2016| Iasi, Romania

Overview| Transhumanism is an international movement aimed at improving the human (physical or cognitive) condition by means of the new technologies in order to create new humanoid species with longer life expectancy (and, why not, immortal). The philosophers and specialists in the field of social and human sciences argue that an ethical/moral evaluation of human enhancement is needed whereas once the biological limits are overcome, there is no turning back.

Aims & Scope| The aim of this workshop is to analyze the conditions of achieving these changes upon the human individual. On the other hand, human enhancement involves a careful (bio) ethical evaluation, whereas the changes may entail the violation of the human individual’s fundamental rights.

Topics| transhumanism, human enhancement, biological limits, (bio) ethical evaluation
